Individual rights requests FAQS

Under the Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016, all individuals (data subjects) have a right to access or challenge the processing of their personal data being held and managed by an organisation.

You can exercise these rights by submitting a request for an individual rights request under one of the rights listed below:

  1. The right to be Informed
  2. The right of Access
  3. The right to Rectification
  4. The right to Erasure
  5. The right to Restrict Processing
  6. The right to Data Portability
  7. The right to Object
  8. Rights in Relation to Automated Decision Making and Profiling

For information on individual rights, please review our privacy notice. You can also find more information via the Information Commissioner’s Office website.

The simplest and most secure way to make a rights request is by logging an online rights request on our portal. If you are unable to do this then you can also contact us by:

  • Calling us. You can make a verbal request by calling our contact centre on 0330 555 1230
  • Writing to us at – Data Rights Team, Athena House, Bedford Road, Petersfield, Hampshire, GU32 3LJ
  • Emailing us at datarightsteam@moneybarn.com
  • State clearly what you want – You might not need all of the personal data that we hold about you. Helping us identify what you need will enable us to obtain this data more quickly and accurately
  • Your full name, full address and contact details
  • Your communication preference and how you would like to receive your rights request outcome. This can either be through the portal, or in the post. We would always recommend choosing the online portal as this way your data can be kept safe and secure.
  • Any details or relevant dates that will help us identify what you are looking for.

Not usually. In most cases we cannot charge a fee for complying with a rights request. However, we can charge a ’reasonable fee’ for the administrative costs of complying with your request if it is manifestly unfounded or excessive, or if you request further copies of your data.

We have one calendar month to respond, from the date we have verified your identity. When you submit a request, you will be asked a series of questions to verify your identity, once this has been completed you will receive an email saying if it was successful or not.

We may extend the time limit by a further two months if the request is complex or if we receive numerous requests from you.

Depending on what communication preference you have selected, is how your rights request outcome is received.

In most cases we provide all rights request outcomes via our secure online portal. Once the rights request is completed by our Data Rights Team, the outcome is uploaded onto our secure portal and you will receive an email notifying you that something has been uploaded onto the portal. .

The email notification you receive will have a link taking you to our secure portal to view the outcome of your rights request. It will also show whether your rights request has been completed.

In some instances, our Data Rights Team may need further information in order to deal with the rights request. Therefore, we may update the request to reflect this which will notify you in the same way. You can then access the secure portal and respond.

We understand there may be instances where you are unable to provide an email address to access our secure portal. If this is you, then we are able to post the outcome of your rights request. You just need to specify this is how you would prefer to be contacted when creating the request.

  • Every time you access the portal you will need to enter your email address. This is so that your information stays as secure as possible. When entering the portal each time, please make sure you are accessing it through the link on your most recent email notification.
  • The original gateway link will expire after 90 days if not accessed.
  • Do not forward the email to another email account, this will close the portal. We have it set this way so that we can keep the portal and your information as secure as possible.

We hope that you do not experience any issues when creating or receiving your rights request. Should you have any issues then please contact us via datarightsteam@moneybarn.com. Alternatively, you can contact us on 0330 555 1230.
